DEEPWATER, Mo. — Officials are trying to decide whether to file charges against a Missouri man who fatally shot his wife while trying to install a satellite TV system in the bedroom of their home.

Patsy Long, 34, of Deepwater, died after being shot in the chest with a .22-caliber handgun on Saturday. Her husband, Ronald Long, fired the shot from the inside of their home after several unsuccessful efforts to punch a hole through the exterior wall using other means.Henry County sheriff’s deputies said the woman was hit by the second of two shots fired by her husband.Long was given CPR by neighbors and family until medics arrived, police said. She was transported by air ambulance, but was pronounced dead at the hospital just after 6 p.m.

“He was under the impression that everybody was inside the residence, that he knew where everybody was at,” said sheriff’s department spokesman Maj. Robert Hills.

Hills said a person involved in such a case normally would be charged with manslaughter, but that would be up to the prosecutor.Link

Don’t go overboard with your keys in your pocket!

March 26, 2008 (Gizmag)

It’s an ingenious self-activating miniature bouy on a keyring and after several years of difficulties reaching market, the Seatriever Waterbuoy is now available and seeking international distribution. The UKP13 (US$26) Waterbuoy is the first product in a family of automatic floatation devices that will recover your mobile phone, keys, GPS receiver, PDA, binoculars, VHF radio or anything else that drops overboard.

Waterbuoy is a safety device for anything portable on your boat. It may only be the same size as a regular car key fob (70mm x 28mm x 18mm), but Waterbuoy packs some ingenious miniature flotation technology to stop precious objects from sinking to the bottom. When dropped into the water, Waterbuoy becomes a flashing emergency float for whatever it is attached to, making it possible to retrieve just about anything that you accidentally drop into the water.

“Waterbuoy is a unique product. It will lift up to 1kilogram back to the surface, it will stay afloat for at least 24 hours and it has an emergency flashing light that makes it visible from up to 250 meters away in the dark, so you can even get your valuables back at night,” explains James Halliburton, CEO of Seatriever International. “Waterbuoy is the world’s first and only high-tech solution to the most infuriating accident that can happen on the water.”

Waterbuoy’s operation is ingenious. Seconds after falling into the sea, canal, marina, lake or river, water passes into the body of the fob dissolving a patented automatic actuator that releases gas from a tiny tank into a bright orange balloon. The balloon breaks out of the end of the fob and continues to inflate. Simultaneously, a bright LED starts flashing which illuminates Waterbuoy from the inside like a Belisha beacon. The toughened balloon inflates to the size of a melon making it very easy to grab one-handed or retrieve with a boathook without fear of it bursting.

If you are flying into O’Hare, their will be several shuttle services to bring you to and from the airport to the hotel. If you decide to bring your kids and family you will be happy to know that our hotel is situated right in the middle of both Downtown Chicago and Northern Suburban Shopping. They will have access to hundreds of Restaurants, a Shopping Mall, Movie Theater, and a GameWorks. If anyone would like to volunteer with set up or is coming in on Thursday, please email me at lan@2old2play.com so I can add you to the list of Staff. The Hotel will be providing a bar directly next to the Lan room so we ask that members DO NOT bring their own food or beverage into the Lan.

Why are we doing this?

Well for one, we love video games. Other then that, each year 2old2play tries to donate to a new worthy cause and 2007 is no different. This year we will be supporting the Children Memorial Hospital with the hopes of making children with life threatening diseases just a little bit happier by sharing our love of video games with them. During the event, we would like to ask all attendees to bring any unused gaming systems, games, or game peripherals to be donated to the children at Chicago’s Children Memorial Hospital. If you would like to learn more about Chicago’s Children Memorial Hospital, please visit their site below.http://childrensmemorial.org/default.asp

What Games Will We Play?

This is going to be voted on by all the members of the site. We will take a first vote in the coming weeks to get an idea of what everyone wants to play. Once we get closer to the event, we will take a final vote depending on what consoles and games are out.

What Should I Bring?

Since this is a LAN party, we will not be providing any of the gaming equipment. So, we ask that you bring as much equipment as you can from the list below. We know this is asking a lot, but this is an unsponsored event and so cost of space, TV rental, and Prizes are factored into ticket price. 2old2play is also not creating this event for monetary gain so we only charge for what we need to pay for. It is possible that 2o2p will be able to gain sponsorship and if so, ticket holders will be notified and adjustments will be made to the list. Don’t forget to mark all your equipment. 2old2play will not be responsible for any lost consoles, games, or controllers.

<!-Console (Xbox 360’s please but a Wii or PS3 doesn’t hurt)

<!-Laptop (If you want to play PC games like WoW)

<!-Controllers (As many as you can fit in a bag)

<!-Game Discs (We will try to vote on what to bring)

<!-VGA Connectors (All our rented monitors connect via VGA only!!!)

<!-Monitors (If you want to hook up something other then VGA)

What are the Rules?

<!-Bring Your IDs To the EVENT! (We need them to confirm your order)

<!-Must Be 25 years or Older to attend (Dont make us check IDs please)

<!-Must be registered with the site

<!-All ticket sales are final (This event depends on how many tickets we sell so there will be no refunds for ticket sales)

<!-Dont get out of control! (2o2p reserves the right to kick anyone out of the lan if they become violent, abusive, or conduct themselves in anyway that might cause 2o2p to lose favor with the hotel.)
